Complete One-Time Registration (OTR)
Register once on the UPSC online application portal (upsconline.gov.in) with your basic details. OTR carries across UPSC exams — do it before the notification window opens.
Fill the application when the window opens
From 13 January 2027, select the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, complete the form, upload photo and signature, and choose your exam centre.
Pay the fee (or claim exemption)
The Prelims application fee was ₹100 in the CSE 2026 notification, with women, SC/ST, and PwBD candidates exempt. Expect the 2027 notification to confirm the figure.
Submit before 2 February 2027
Applications close at the deadline in the notification. UPSC also runs a short correction window after submission closes — dates come with the notification.
