Heat, not disease, caused deaths of 8 lion cubs in Gir forest
Gujarat’s Forest Minister said eight Asiatic lion cub deaths in Gir were caused by heat-related stress and weak immunity, not Babesia or viral disease. Authorities quarantined and treated ill lions, undertook deworming and tick-control measures, and ruled out an infectious outbreak.
